Virtual conference recordings
On Thursday 3rd March 2022, Turnkey Consulting, in partnership with Micro Focus, hosted a virtual event dedicated to identity and access management in the higher education industry.
We hosted six, 10-30 minute bite-size sessions covering all areas of identity and access management dedicated to the complexities of managing the thousands of Staff Members, Students, Candidates, and Non-staff/Associates.
This session saw Chris Boyle, Turnkey's Director for IAM, and Mick Rutherford, Micro Focus' IAM Senior Consultant, setting the scene by introducing how Identity & Access Management is currently being utilised in higher education and what we can expect in the future.
2) Myth-Busting: NetIQ & Microsoft Azure - No need to choose; Integration is key (17 mins)
This session saw Mick Rutherford dissect the myth that it's one or the other when it comes to NetIQ and Microsoft Azure Directory. They very much work better together.
3) Case-study session with UAL: Managing your Non-Staff, Non-Student populations - Associate Identity Management (AIM) (12 mins)
Dave Everitt joined us to talk about UAL's considerations, benefits, challenges, and outcomes of implementing identity management for associates/non-staff, which is often overlooked.
4) The Value of a Managed Service with University of Bedfordshire (19 mins)
Rebecca Vafadari and Sue Hopkinson joined us from the University of Bedfordshire as they discussed the business drivers, value, successes, and what they would like to see in the future.
5) Case-study session with UAL: Privileged Access Management (PAM) (23 mins)
Dave Everitt joined us for a second session on how UAL established full control over their Active Directory environment, isolating the use of privileged accounts to reduce the risk of credentials being stolen.
6) How IAM fits into the wider Cyber Security landscape (37 mins)
The final session of the day explored how Identity and Access Management makes up just a small part of your wider cyber security landscape. We walked through the four core security pillars of the NIST framework and how it applies to the higher education industry.
